Jim Hackett (Director of Sports)

UEFA A license coach

English FA academy manager

English FA coach tutor

[email protected]

Football has always been my passion since growing up in South East London and after not making it as a professional player I joined the British Army in 1976 and begun a strange journey that took me around the world with the services whilst continuing to play football at every opportunity.

Working hard to develop my knowledge and ability as a football coach I began my own coach education in 1990 alongside my full time work and in 2000 I passed my UEFA A License Diploma.

From 1995 until 2003 I continued my coach education whilst gaining invaluable experience at Wrexham and the Football Association of Wales before then becoming an English FA Coach Educator in 2003, assessing FA Level 2 courses in Cheshire, Manchester and Lancashire.

In 2004 I was provided with the opportunity to take up the role of Head of Youth with Chester City FC who’s just returned to the Football League after gaining promotion at the end of the 2003/3004 season.  The highlight of my time at Chester City was beating Tottenham Hotspur U18’s 1-0 in the FA Youth Cup 3rd Round in 2007. Spurs had a formidable squad of players, some of who went on to play for various international teams but on the night Chester City were the better team and gained a well-deserved win. Some players from that Chester City youth team are still playing as professional football players in England and Wales.

My time at Chester City finished in 2007 and whilst continuing as a Coach Educator I also took on the role of 1st Team Manager at Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Welsh Premier League for the 2007/2008 season. Despite a first half of the season struggle the club managed to secure its position in the WPL for the following season with three games to spare which was a great achievement. The non-playing side of the club however was in turmoil and I left at the end of the 2007/2008 season to move into a role as Academy Director with Prestatyn Town FC who were also members of the WPL.

After securing their status in the Welsh Premier League comfortably I moved to Prestatyn Town FC as their Academy Director the following season before then in 2009 making the leap to move abroad to Hong Kong to take up the prestigious role as Head Coach of Football at the English Schools Foundation.

Overseeing a transformational change within the ESF Lions Football Programme I continued my good work with a step up to become Director of Sports at the English Schools Foundation in 2013 and once again was able to use my leadership skills and experience to drive forwards massive improvement in all areas of business.

In August 2017 it was time to follow my primary passion once more; that of working with other coaches to help them learn and improve and so I took up this role with AIFC Sports Ltd and am looking forward to the challenge of establishing ourselves as South East Asia’s primary provider of English language accredited coach education courses among other football and sports related initiatives such as elite coaching and professional sports tours.

If you have any questions about any of my work with AIFC Sports please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours in sport,

Jim Hackett
